Pep Talk

Pep Talk

Pep Talk are an avant-pop duo founded in 2019. Cansu Tanrıkulu and Korhan Erel use poetry, absurdist texts, electronics, their voices, effects and many other means of creating sounds and ideas to come up with songs. While being a duo of accessible musics, they draw from their musical backgrounds as two prominent musicians of Berlin’s experimental scene.

Being a pandemic baby, Pep Talk’s musical output remained limited at first, but the duo continued working and rehearsing. Their first performance was an improvised set at Berlin’s XJAZZ festival in 2020. In 2021, Pep Talk composed the music for Maxim Gorki Theater’s production “Krampus” by Isabella Sedlak. They took on the name “Pep Talk” in 2022.

They were introduced to Charles Lindsay’s photography and poetry by David Rothenberg in 2022 and decided to record an album based on Lindsay’s book “Recipes for the Mind”. They will present this work at Borusan Music House in Istanbul in April 2024.
